The BSc (Hons) Computing with Foundation Year is structured to offer a solid foundation in using computing and IT to address real-world challenges.
During your Foundation Year, you will have the opportunity to develop academic and employability skills that are essential for higher education, while being introduced to key concepts in computing.
The following year of study will teach you how to interpret and assess data relevant to computing and IT. You will learn and apply fundamental theories and concepts in the field to make informed decisions and evaluate problem-solving strategies within the areas of Technology, Software, and Data.
As you progress to Level 5, you will expand your knowledge and skills in computer science by focusing on applying concepts and techniques within the broader contexts of Technology, Software, and Data to address problems in business and industry. Your learning will culminate in an industry-related project, where you will showcase the knowledge and skills you've gained. Additionally, you will improve your communication skills by presenting your findings to a diverse audience, an essential skill for all technology roles.
In your final year, you will have the chance to further explore the three core areas: Technology, Software, and Data. This deeper study will concentrate on applying computer science principles and techniques across various sectors like business, industry, and commerce to solve problems. Your skills and knowledge will be demonstrated through a comprehensive project module, aligned with one of the core themes. This project will challenge you to apply your learning to real-world problems, showcasing your critical thinking, problem-solving, and technical abilities.
